Hi, I’m glad you are here.
My name is Joe. I’m an avid photographer, and I believe life doesn’t happen in a single, continuous blur.

It. Happens. In. Frames.
For me, those frames have been exposed across two seemingly different worlds: a twenty-year career as an oncology RN in a nationally ranked teaching hospital here in Los Angeles, and a lifelong passion for capturing the world through a viewfinder. But whether I am looking at the grand scale of a majestic landscape, the oft-overlooked macro world of tiny flowers, or the raw emotions of candid street photography, the camera was never just about taking pictures. To me, what I see through the lens and the snapshots I capture are a vital metaphor for the fragments of ideas, beliefs, and philosophies that shape how I live in this world.
This blog is an ongoing narrative of adulting life — the messy, beautiful, and grounded reality of navigating the daily grind of the modern world we live in. Social media, AI, geopolitical realities, and cultural shifts happening all around us can be daunting, and truly hard to understand. To understand the present, I cannot help but look back at my very roots and the life experiences that originally forged my worldview. I use this cross-examination of my past and present to explore an existential philosophy of life, examining how our earliest anchors hold us steady when the ground beneath us starts to shake.
Ultimately, these blog posts are a personal gallery where sharp visual frames meet deep human realities. After decades of anchoring patients through both casual and profound transitions, I have learned that the snippets of truth we gather along the way are what keep us whole. We are all just processing this existence, developing our perspectives, and living our truths — a frame at a time.
So grab a cup of joe, look through Joe’s viewfinder, and welcome to my frame of mind.
